Hi Rick,...I have some wa coca cola football cards albums issued in west aust back in 1961, I have in total 5 team albums,...ef,ep,p,wp,sub albums measure 240 x300 and each album has a picture of the clubs captain on the front, also cover reads "league football stars" Photo Album 24 signed photos of local stars-1961. Each album once opened up has 24 player cards with red borders stuck inside. Top of each card has the words - drink "coca cola" ice cold, and a facsimile signature of the player at the bottom.
Hope you can give me an approx value on the albums, as not many people know much about there issue or value.

Many thanks
Tony

Tony, a fellow came to me a few years back with albums for all eight WAFL teams. It was the first time I'd seen them all in one place at the one time! One player I clearly remember was the father of former Eagles star Chris Lewis. In Victoria, three sets only were issued - all featuring players from Geelong. Providing your albums are in nice condition, you're looking at $500 plus - for each of the five. We have a mainly sporting auction coming up on May 17. If you are interested in selling, we could place them there for you.

Hi Rick,...Thankyou for the info,..and thankyou for the offer to sell in your auction in may,..at this time i will be holding onto the albums, i didn`t mention i also have 20 WA 1961 coca cola cards not stuck in an album in excellent++ condition. I have checked both Aust & NZ index part 1 & 2 and it only lists the Geelong sets you mentioned. I might check with the state library and WAFL clubs for any info the there issue?

Many thanks once again.
Regards
Tony

Tony, there was only the one issue in WA, and it included all teams. I'm surprised the second edition of the Aust & NZ Index didn't include the WA info (you're right, it isn't in there) as that info has been known for some time. (By the way, there are other sets not listed in either volume) Your single loose cards still have good value - $50 plus for each of them. Auction if you wish

Hi Tony and Rick
I have a few of these and reckon they're brilliant. This is the information on them from Damian Green's Footy cards web site;
"A set of rare Coca-Cola cards issued in WA only. They are a very similar format to that of the Geelong Coca-Cola cards in that they have a red border with the caption 'Drink Coca-Cola ice cold". Each club had 24 cards issued with an album to store the cards in."
I think the cards were redeemed for coke bottle caps.
I need one or two single cards to complete a couple of team sets if you had them and were interested in selling Tony.
Cheers
John

Wish I could help John, but these are super-rare. Although millions of cards have passed through my hands over the years, I've never had a single WA Coca-Cola card!

No problem Rick I didn't expect you would though I will always keep an eye on the auctions to see if any come up. I was hoping Tony may want to sell 1 or 2 singles if they were doubles of some he had.
I would be interested in knowing though Rick whether the AFL's collection of cards is complete. That is, would they have complete sets of all these rare cards including the WA Cokes etc?
Thanks
John

No they don't John. I've only seen the complete W.A. set once - and that was for my valuation. I've never been offered any of the WA sets. They are surely much rarer than the Geelong sets - although they are hard enough themselves! By the way, sad news! Collectormania magazine is no more. April was the last edition. Maybe a collector's item one day?

Hey John and Tony,

My father is featured on one of these WAFL cards, and I've been trying to track one down for a while.

Are either of you interested in parting with one, or even leasing it to me so I can get a high resolution scan done?

Thanks very much.

Cheers
Shannon

Over to you Tony (or anyone else who might be able to help) . A scan would be good. Of course, we'll need to know your father's name, Shannon. And by the way, with the amazing increase in footy card prices, I'd now value these W.A. albums at $1,000 each.

Hi Tony,

My name is Damien Green. I administer the Footy Card website that John Gordon has mentioned in one of the postings above. In this website we are attempting to capture an electronic image of every Footy card ever issued. We are still searching for images of cards in this particular set, in particular the Claremont, Sth Frem and Swan Districts players. Is there any chance you could help.

Cheers,
Damien

I know Damien, and highly recommend what he's done/doing. He's not doing this for profit - more for the love of the game and its history. If anyone can help, it benefits us all

Does anyone have a Ross Sutherland Geelong FC Coca Cola card? A radio caller needs it to complete the set

No doubt Wayne! It's hard to keep up with prices going the way they are. What sold for $30 6 months ago can now sell for $60-$70 - cards from Scanlens 1968, 1969. Same with WEG's, gone through the roof in last year. Obviously the same with Coca Cola Geelong & WA cards. Who'd be a valuer!!
