Hi Rick, I have Adrian Morley's game jersey which he wore in his last game for the Roosters before he went back to England. I have had it mounted in a frame and it is also signed by ALL of the players that played with him in his last game. Just wondering if it is valued. Thanks.

I think that's a pretty good one DiH! He certainly made an impact here! I like it! Around $1,500.

Just a hint to anyone buying a "Linited Edition". Make sure you know what number yours is, and of how many. I had contact with someone who had a Limited Edition Darren Bennett (Aussie Rules player who went as designated kicker to US gridiron) signed football, numbered 47,616!!! Ideally, Limited Editions should be 50, or up to 100. And a max. of 200. Anything over that isn't "Limited" in spite of what they might say.

Another tough one is Commemorative Ports/Wines. The majority of these are sold as fund-raisers. My advice to anyone holding on to these is "drink them" - they don't have any particular value on the secondary market.

While I'm thinking of it, I'm not sure anyone has ever seen an authentic 1954 WEG poster. This was the first year they were issued, and were given ONLY to the newsboys who sold the Herald on the streets of Footscray. I'd hate to have to authenticate one - I'm not sure what to look for. One thing I DO know is that there are plenty of fakes - including some that have sold for very large amounts of money.

Response first to Daz 79. Yes, I know of that poster. Big question mark on it for me - it was part of the estate of the late Jack Collins, full forward who kicked seven in their 1954 Grand Final win. As I said, there are lots of reproductions doing the rounds. Now Wayne, in answer to your two queries: frst, if anyone can help with no. 4 of the Peter's Pals series, I reckon it's har to find, but not hugely valuable. Worth maybe $10 Query two: I'd look for some authentication that it was used in that intra-club match - you should be able to get that from the club itself. Tell them I suggested it. Geelong FC collectables have increased greatly in value over the last 3 years (for obvious reasons). Scot Palmer who wrote in the Herald Sun once asked me to rank the footy clubs in collectability. I ranked Geelong no. 10. I'd now rank it in the top five. With authentication, maybe $1,500.

sorry rick the jumper was actually a ground raffle price that the club ran that day it still has tags on it does this decrease the value being not game worn

Yes it does, Wayne. Genrally, a game worn jumper is worth at least twice the price of one that isn't.

Thanks Rick, I am very much into Rugby League and have quite a collection. Never thought really about value until I listened to you on radio and decided to inquire. Thanks again.

To all punters out there with substantial collections, it's probably worth getting your collection valued for insurance reasons. I'm not touting for business, but it's definitely worth the cost of the valuation in almost every case - if it's not, I'll you so. You get two copies of the official Valuation Form - keep one yourself, pass the other ot your Insurance Co. There are three Licensed Valuers of sporting items, I'm one - and I keep the charges low for private collectors. Just finished inspecting the Geelong F.C. collection - that is one very well run Football Club. And let me tell, not every one of the other 15 are!!

Bob, I'm available in Melbourne and/or Brisbane. Easiest way is to call me on 0418 339 103 to arrange a time and place. I have a stall at the Camberwell Antique Centre, 25-29 Cookson St., Camberwell in Melbourne, and at the Southside Antique Centre, 484 Ipswich Road, Annerley in Brisbane. I sell collectables of all kinds with a heavy concentration (especially in Melbourne) of Aussie Rules.

Hi Rick,
I have a great hand made wooden box with handle and hinged cover, 2 drawers and a compartment for ? medical supplies or similar I'm guessing. On the lid is painted Kensington R.L.F.C "A" Grade, and a red V shape on white background. The box is about 18cm tall x 23.5 cm wide x 9.5cm deep. I wondered if you know anything about this sort of item please?

Sava, you've got a medical kit box for sure - and one that was used by the club doctor at Kensington RLFC in Sydney. My guess is it could be from the 1940-50's, and I reckon it's pretty good. I seem to remember that Kensington was a feeder club to Eastern Suburbs. To a keen League fan with a sense of history, maybe $150.

If anyone interested in im wanting to swap my Robert Harvey potrait/poster that was done by artist Jamie Cooper and signed by both player and artist. These were limited to 500 and i have i think 380/500 its in cracking condition as its never been framed or displayed comes with COA. Im wanting the Trevor Barker print by artist Brian Clinton. email me at zariahope@hotmail.com

I believe that Brian Clinton is a supremely gifted artist. His work at AFL Headquarters and at the Hawthorn F.C. museum at Waverley is outstanding. And amongst caricaturists, I think Rogers is head and shoulders above anyone else. My opinion only - would appreciate other points of view.

couldnt agree more Rick. I without disrespect to Jamie Cooper and other sport artists think Brian Clinton is the bench mark as you said his work at Hawthorn is incredible

Hi Rick, I have a very old Fitzroy Lions original signed football together with a Fitzroy Lions scarf. However, the football has gone a little flat and I cannot decipher most of the signatures on there. I noticed you said earlier that signed footballs dont get very much, so I'm assuming I probably wouldnt get too much either? I will try to find out the names of some of the players on there, I just do not know what year it is from. Thanks Rick
Kind regards,
Tara

If your 1968WEG poster is in top shape, Daz 79, you're looking at $2,000 plus. How about that? Tara, as a very keen Fitzroy/Brisbane supporter, I'd love to be able to tell you your footie was worth big bucks. Unfortunately it won't be. The problem with yours (as with most) os that they go flat, and the signatures fade over time. If you are Melbourne or Brisbane based, I could have a look at it for you and help identify the players. For all other memorabilia collectors, I am happy to recommend The Frame Spot in East Malvern in Melbourne. They do a super job permanently inflating footballs and framing of all kinds. Their contact number is 03 9885 0017. Speak to Colin or Margaret

Hi. I have a 1990 Collingwood Premiership Poster from the Herald Sun which has been lamenated. Could you please tell me if it has any value.

Cheers

Bill, you've mentioned the evil word: "laminated". Once an item has been laminated, it can't be "rescued". It's a prisoner, and I'm afraid most collectors won't look at anything laminated. Let's put it this way: the process takes away 80% of the value of any item, and takes away 90% of the potential purchasers. Maybe $50. Sorry, wish the news was better!
