Knowing who wore the jumper has a major influence on the price Brad. Is there a number on the back? Can you ask the person who gave you the jumper if he/she knows who it belonged to? If you can find out who wore it, maybe $750-$1,000. If not, half that.

Brad, to each his own, but to me, $700 is a pretty sizeable amount to pay.Still, if you love it, go for it. I assume it's been framed. If not, I would have thought half the asking price would be fair.

Hi, a question about an original Norm SMITH fitzroy jumper thats on ebay seller claims its the real deal , if you are aware of this what do you think in regards to its credibility?

Brad, who can tell? Approach with caution! Unless there's some written confirmation, I'd leave it alone.

as you can see with my first post my wife inherited a big v state jumper from the 1930s my research comes up as footscray player Norm WARE may have worn it. I have a Avco training jumper from 1986 that Tom Alvin gave to me when i was 11 years old he didnt wear it but it belonged to him, have Geoff Cunninghams game jumper from 1987 signed and other items to much for this forum

Good to see plenty of member to member discussion. Just a thought to all members out there. It might to worth having your collection valued. There was an unfortunate case where a large collection was stolen in Vic. The owner had often thought of getting a valuation done, but didn't. It would have saved a lot of headaches. I am a Licensed Valuer for sporting items, and have valued the collection at AFL headquarters, and at 12 of the 16 AFL clubs. Some amazing items out there! If you'd like more info., call me on 0418 339 103.

hi rick yeah would be a good idea how much are we talkin and do i need to bring everything too you??
Couple of other questions i am a collecting WEG posters and trying too get the set any condition any ideas were i may be able to get some have tried a few dealers but there prices are throught the roof...
second what would a match worn MFC Ron Barrasi jumper expect too fetch if indeed it were the real deal from his MFC playing days as i assume they wouldn't have worn many jumpers in that era.

Yes Baz, WEG posters are through the roof. I might be able to help, depending on what you're looking for. Ring me next week 0418 339 103. No you don't have to bring every contribution through this website to me. This should be a forum - everyone is welcome to contribute on any subject - maybe you disagree with some prices or comments - that's fine. Or maybe you just want to ask another member's opinion on something. Go for it! If it's really Ron's game-worn jujmper, it's worth plenty! They mostly used to wear the one jumper for the entire season. $3,000 plus, but you'd need some good proof.

And if anyone out there who wants to sell pre 1990 match jumpers email me at zariahope@hotmail.com i am ready to buy and the the bigger the player the bigger the price! As for Weg posters i think the prices of most are way too much for what they are , i believe sites like ebay have inflated prices too much due to the mass audience it reaches anyway but i guess thats the point!

anyone into matchworn jumpers checkout 'AFL AUCTIONS.COM' as the geelong fc are auctioning of Cam Mooneys 2007 MATCH WORN grandfinal jumper bidding already up to $1000. I think this will go for mega bucks

Not sure about the mega-bucks, Brad - I guess we'll just have to wait until the end of Jan. to find out. I'm not sure a one- month bidding deadline is right, either. Surely seven (or maybe 14 days) is enough? In most big games, the players wear two jumpers - one for each half, although some players feel it is bad luck to change at halftime if they've played a "blinder" in the first half. Anyhow, thanks for the tip to Daz 79. By the way, this site is happy for anyone to use it as a forum - I've had a couple of phonecalls asking if it's OK to use the site as a forum. The answer is a definite "YES"!!

Gee thats alot i could understand Stevie J's jumper going for that amount being the Norm Smith Medalist but not Cam Mooney... I had the chance to buy (1 of 4 Match Worn) James Hird 2000 Grand Final Jumper from which he won the Norm Smith, it was a few years ago and could have picked it up for $1000 still reeling that one, Also Jimmy Stynes jumper that he wore the day he broke the conecutive games record for my beloved demons that would have cost me $800 but i was out if work at that stage and couldn't afford it, yet a week later i picked up work and it was too late jumper was gone. Cheers

I must admit it went for more than I thought it would. Daz79, your Hird/Stynes stories bring a tear to my eye. Years ago, I was offered a set of rare cricket cards for $500. I just didn't have the money at the time - went back a few days later, and they were gone. I bought ONE (of the set of 50) recently, and paid $80 for it!
