i can see why you think its too much in price after all its just a jumper right? You both have stories about purchases you missed on only to regret it today im no different hindsight is a wonderfull thing. I just think a grand final jumper will always command big bucks especially these days were collectables of any sport is booming. I reckon if a carlton grand final jumper came up i would probably pay too much even if it meant my wife would kill me twice over!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Brad i value your opinions as you seem to really know what your talking about. I guess i am fairly new to collecting the types of Sports memorabilia i am now looking for just wondering what are some other forums, web sites, auction houses that i may be able to contact to find these items. Apart from Leski's and Ebay (of which i am always hessatant) Whats out there? Cheers Daz

check out footycards.com.au also a forum called Bigfooty.com you can post anything about footy so just put the question out there on what you want and maybe you have some luck. Also there are plenty of forums on footy you can sign up with requests just google search afl forums. Im no expert Daz on football collectables i just like you have a passion for our game like you and Rick but noticed the last 5 or so years have seen prices sky rocket which i think makes it a sellers market. i believe in the adage " its only worth what someone pays for it" . I to realy take notice on Ricks valuations as i believe he gives an unbiased view

Thanks for the kind words guys. Just by the way, check out the bottom of the back page of Saturday Age sports section. I do a column called "Sporting Worth", and in spite of doing radio and other stuff all over the place, this is the one that brings more comment than any other! Speaking of Cam Mooney's jumper, I am valuing the GFC's collection next week for the second time. They are a very forward-thinking footy club, very well run. I did my first valuation for them maybe five years ago. Since then, I have valued the collections at Richmond, Carlton, Collingwood (three times), North Melbourne, St. Kilda, Essendon, Sydney Swans, Brisbane Lions (twice), Hawthorn (twice), Melbourne.and of course AFL Headquarters. Next cabs off the rank are Port Adelaide Power and the Western Bulldogs. I've see some amazing stuff. The folks at footycards.com rang me the other day - very nice guys. By the way, anybody wishes to ring me, feel free. The number is 0418 339 103.

Speaking of Big V, there seem to be a few out there. I've been offered three in the last two weeks - one from the 1950's

Interesting. Did you end up buying them? i would be interested in buying depending on price and if the player was known. You can let me know Rick if they are for sale

Thanks alot for the offer rooboyrod, but i am getting more selective with what i collect now for the simple fact it all adds up $$$, mainly into match worn/used items, original Grand Final WEG posters and anything unusual or rare. Once again i really do appreciate the offer. Daz

Generally, I've found that signed footballs aren't the easiest to sell. Over time, the names definitely fade. I've had a few from the 1950's where they've all but disappeared. Another reason the modern footballs don't sell too well is that the player's signatures are, in most cases, unreadable. I think it's because that's probably the only time they pick up a pen - most of them would mostly use the computer, for emails and so on. If you look at signatures from footy players from 1960's or earlier, you can read every one!!

rooboyrod, that said, I still think your football is one of the better examples, being from the Dees' US trip
