Have you been to Camberwell Antique Centre? I have some there. They seldom turn up these days. By the way, Cooraminta Street Brunswick giant Street Sale is on tomorrow Sat., May 8 from 9am, with lots of footie, cricket, boxing, racing, Olympic memorabilia. Other non-sport stuff too

Nick, I am responsible for the archives at AFL headquarters. About 10 years ago, I sold the bulk of my collection to them. Thus, I have little here to be able to help you. Since then, the AFL's collection has continued to grow, to the point where it is one of the better footie card collections in the country. All credit to them - the AFL is very forward-thinking, and realises its future is only as good as its past. And the same can be said of the AFL clubs themselves (with one notable exception!!) I wish I could say the same about most other sports in Australia, but, with the exception of cricket, the rest seem to have little interest in collectively saving the past . Most of good work re the AFL is thanks to the Heritage Group, currently run by Michael Roberts. The Group meets monthly, with reps. from each club, looking at preserving the past in a cooperative way. All power to them! Thanks to a variety of radio programs, I still manage to pick up a fair amount of sport-related material, thus my albums of cards at the Camberwell Antique Centre in Melbourne, and the Southside Antique Centre in Brisbane.

Yes the history of the greatest game in the world must to be preserved, i am a Carlton supporter and as a child hated all but the NAVY BLUES but now i find most of the clubs great due to the long and proud history most of them have, even the Pies. Anyway Rick, do you have any C&H up in Brisbane at the moment? Cheers.....Nick. Also should mention although i think the other clubs are great i still think the famous old dark Blues are, the BEST there is, the BEST there was and the BEST there ever will be.

Love your passion for the greatest game of all, Nick! No, no C&H in Brisbane, but if I track any more down, you'll be the first to hear.

Hello again Rick, i have some cricket cards that i cannot identify They seem to have been cut from some sort of packaging maybe match boxes??? as they are plain brown cardboard on the rear with no writing and the front is white with head and shoulder pictures in 1 and a half inch X 1 and a half inch frames printed in blue with names below ( same print as pictures in a newspaper) not sure of the year they were issued but They were my Grandfathers and he passed 40+ years ago. I have 9 all up, they are...... Bradman, Ponsford, Nash, Oldfield, Fleetwood smith, Kippax, Mc cabe, Ironmonger and Wall. Hope you can help me identify them, Cheers....Nick.

Yes, almost certainly from matchboxes, Nick. Yacht and Duncan's brands had cricketers on the reverse. Maybe email me a scan on mrpp@iprimus.com.au
